Fire Awareness

Course overview:
The course has been designed to provide staff with an understanding of how to reduce the risk of fire in the workplace and how to respond in the event of a fire. The training will ensure that the use of fire extinguishers for ‘first aid’ firefighting will be both safe and effective.
Who should attend:
All staff as part of their induction or continuation training. (Staff with specific duties in the event of fire should attend the Fire Warden course)
Objectives:
At the end of the course students will:
- Be aware of the dangers of fire
- Understand the nature of fire and how it spreads
- Be aware of simple fire prevention measures
- Understand what to do in the event of a fire alarm
- Be able to distinguish between different types of fire extinguishers
- Be able to tackle small fires safely and effectively
Content:
- Basic fire prevention
- Building fire protection
- Evacuation procedures
- Chemistry of combustion
- Practical ‘first-aid’ firefighting on live fire
Certificate:
All students receive a certificate of attendance
